Usibelli Coal seeks permit renewal for mine
Usibelli Coal requested to renew its Wishbone Hill mining permits for another 5 years, despite a U.S. District court ruling that a permit expires after three years unless a proper extension is granted. According to DNR, there are no plans to mine at this time. However, CMC wants to make it clear that we are still here, we still oppose the Wishbone Hill coal mine, and we will always fight to protect the health of our community and the Matanuska Watershed.
Please write a letter or email to DNR expressing your objections to the renewal of the Wishbone Hill coal mine. The deadline for public comment is JUNE 3, 2020 at 5.p.m. Send comments to email@example.com or by mail to Russell Kirkham, DNR Division of Mining, Land, and Water, 550 West 7th Ave, Suite 920, Anchorage AK 99501-3577.
